Kodak 100 VS

VS stands for "vivid saturation" and, yes, it is a saturated film! For most work definitely much more saturated than necessary. The film is not only very saturated but also has a very significant warm tint. Nevertheless it can be useful for some special purposes. Recently I took it for a trip to Africa and although I used Fuji Provia and Velvia most of the time, for a safari on savannah I reserved Kodaks. I wanted to catch those warm yellows, browns and reds, and Kodak 100 VS seemed perfect for that task. I am glad with the results. Although the colors are not quite natural, the slides show the world I saw: sunny, warm, sometimes filled with yellow dust, sometimes covered with a rainbow. These are, however, very special situations. Under most circumstances the slides are too warm, almost reddish, with sky falling sometimes slightly into violet. The sunsets turn out just red, so don't even try to use this film at this time of the day without filters.
