Cameras, flashes & films

Most of the photographs you can find in this section have been made with 24 x 36 cameras. For the last few years I stick to the 'middle-range' Canon equipment: EOS 100 and EOS 50E. As a 'just-in-case' camera, I always carry with me a tiny yet excellent Olympus mju II. For some very special purposes I still keep a bulky but reasonably good middle-format Kiev 66 - the Russion version of poor-man's Hasselblad. However, being mostly a nature and travel photographer, I prefer somewhat lighter sets... Canon offers probably the best balance between quality, cost and weight; although after my recent accident in Africa, I have major complains about its durability. If you are about to choose a new equipment for yourself or simply would like to read some 'hands-on' evaluations, this section might be of interest for you. You will find here my personal comments on the equipment I am most familiar with. However, if you are a devoted equipment fan, you would better look somewhere else: you will not find here extensive product information or 'Canon-versus-Nikon' comparisons. I still believe that despite impressive technological achievements, this is the photographer who makes pictures, and a camera is just a mere tool. Whichever camera you use, you CAN make GOOD photographs; despite of how good is your camera and how much have you spent on it, you can still make BAD pictures.
