PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) and MPI (Message Passing Interface) are
the most frequently used tools for parallel programming according to the
message-passing paradigm.
The first three Conferences of this series were devoted to PVM and they
were held at the University of Rome, Italy (1994), at the ENS Lyon,
France (1995), and at the TU Muenchen, Germany (1996).
The Fourth European PVM - MPI User's Group Meeting will be a forum for
users and developers of PVM, MPI and other message-passing programming
environments.
We would like to enable PVM and MPI users to meet each other in 1997,
share ideas and experiences, and meet members of the PVM and MPI teams.
The Conference will include:
- tutorials on advanced usage of PVM and MPI
- invited talks on PVM, MPI and their applications
- contributed presentations from the PVM and MPI users community
- technical presentations by developers of PVM and MPI
- vendor presentations on PVM, MPI and related products
- round table discussions on future of PVM and MPI
- birds-of-feather sessions
- conference dinner and other social events
Main topics of the meeting will be:
- algorithms using message-passing paradigm
- applications in science and engineering based on message-passing
- evaluation of PVM and MPI
- performance of PVM and MPI
- extensions and improvements to PVM and MPI
- tools for PVM and MPI
- HPF/MPI extensions
- implementation issues
