Full member of the Acoustical Society of America, Institute of Noise Control Engineering USA,  Biomedical Engineering Society. Several terms served as President of Polish Acoustical Society Division Krakow. Member of Polish Society of Petroleum and Gas Engineers, Standardization Working Group on Noise and Vibrations in Warsaw, Working Group on Loudspeakers Modeling and Measurements Audio Engineering Society AES, and the Polish Association of Indianapolis. Member of Editorial Board of Molecular and Quantum Acoustics Journal. 

Founder of the Laboratory of Structural Acoustics and Intelligent Materials (1994) and a Head of the Structural Acoustics and Biomedical Engineering Laboratory (1995-2006) at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland. Initiator and Founder of the International Journal on Structures-Waves-Human Health Engineering, Chairman of the Annual Conference on Structures-Waves-Biomedical Engineering. Since 1990 acted as a Director and Co-owner of Acoustic Consulting Office AKUSTYKA in Poland.

Research Interest



Ryszard J. Panuszka is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Vibroacoustics.  He holds Mechanical Engineering,  Ph.D. and Higher Doctorate from University of Science and Technology, Krakow. Between 1970 -1971, specialized in the design and dynamics of hydraulic and electro hydraulic control systems. Since 1972  : radiation of of sound sources, modeling, predictions.  Designing vibroacoustic subsystems. Development of multilayer system of sound insulation. New generation of low frequency acoustic filters and vibroisolation systems. Pioneered an educational program for Structural Acoustics and Biomedical Engineering and implemented it at University of Science and Technology AGH, Krakow. Since 1990 has served as President of Cracow Chapter of Polish Acoustical Society.  He was also a three term member of the Committee on Acoustic at the Polish Academy of Sciences.

In period 1992-2000 he conducted seminars and invited lectures at La Sapienza University of Rome Italy and was a Visiting Scholar at Purdue University of West Lafayette IN, NASA AMES Moffet Field in California, and Urbana Champaign University of Illinois, USA.  He was also a visiting researcher at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at Southampton University England. He cooperated with the Applied Acoustic Department of Chalmers University at Gothenburg, Lund University of Technology Acoustic Group in Sweden, the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium and the Muller GmbH in Germany.

He has been the Director of dozen or so research grants funded by the Polish government in various areas of  Structural Acoustics and Low Frequency Sounds. Author and co-author of over two hundred technical journal and conference papers, books and chapters.  Monographs on "FEM and Integral Methods in Acoustics" was published in 1996, and  "Acoustics Waves" in 2001. Organized numerous conferences on  structural acoustics, wave methods and mechanics in biomedical engineering.

His main research interest was since 1972 up to 1992 Structural Acoustics. Since 1994 he has also concentrated on problems of sound health effects and biomedical engineering.

STRUCTURES - WAVES – BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING


The International Journal of Structures-Waves-Biomedical Engineering is the refereed journal of the Polish Acoustical Society, Division Krakow and is edited since 1992. The primary objective of the Journal and associated every year conference is to advance the science of acoustical and biomedical engineering and problems of environmental waves and vibration that is responsive to the needs of researchers and engineers concerned with acoustics and vibration problems.
Manuscripts of articles, technical notes and letters-to-the-editor should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief. Manuscripts are refereed by two referees and are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief before acceptance. On acceptance, revised articles should be submitted to the Editorial Board by mail. Manuscripts of articles have to be prepared in exactly with the author instructions.
Annual price of one volume including airmail postage is US$ 30.00 or 120 Polish zlotys. The journal and all articles and illustrations published herein are protected by copyright. No part of this journal may be translated, reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted, in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, microfilming, recording or otherwise, without written permission of the publisher.
