Field(s) of research & interest, ongoing projects

Main subject of my interest is historical demography. My doctoral dissertation is on "Fertility in Galicia in the second half of 19th c.", based on copious data (leading to about 70,000 records) available in the Public Register Office of Cracow. The project demands employing many advanced computer techniques and methods. One of the expected result should be important information relevant to the health of female population.

Contacts with journals, newsletters, institutions, etc

Since 1993 I am a member of Division of Historical Demography of the Committee on Demography, the Polish Academy of Sciences, since 1994 of the Polish Statistical Association and, since 1996, of the Polish Demographical Association. During the last academic year I spent three month in Vienna, Austria thanks to a grant offered by Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research. Earlier I took part in the Summer School, 1992, on "New Methods in History" in Salzburg, Austria.

Suggestions to the network (future workshops, search for partners in comparative projects, etc)

I am anxious to collaborate with researchers analysing mass data on female populations (health, fertility etc.).
